-> 12/15 - Beanie Sigel Tapes Anti-Violence Public Service Announcement
"Exercise your mind, not your trigger finger."
This is the message Beanie Sigel is trying to get across in a new Public Service Announcement he did for his hometown Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
In a city that has seen 375 murders so far this year, Sigel hopes to get his message through to the youth.
"If this is a message for the youth, it gotta come from somebody that they not only respect but they know. That been through what they're goin through," Sigel told the station.
Despite the rapper's own legal issues over the past few years, Sigel feels he is still someone that needs to be heard.
"If they say why should they listen to me, then they're being hypocrites, cause these are the same people that say the reason why the youth is out doing these things is cause they listened to Beanie Sigel's music. So if I'm tellin em' to do something good, are they not gonna listen to me then?" Sigel asked.
"I got the scars. I got the wounds. I know. Why should they listen to me? Who else they gonna listen to?"

-> 12/11 - Jay-Z: "I might be back at Def Jam"
Jay-Z recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his future as Def Jam President. Jay-Z denied rumors that he was demanding a king's ransom and said that it wasn't about the money at all. Read what Jay-Z said below when asked if he would be back next year as Def Jam's President:
"Yeah, I think — I don't know. Let me not even say that. I don't know. We'll see how it goes. But seriously, it's not about money. That's really the last thing. Of course, as a person that does these type of things and puts his heart and soul into it — and it's effective, as the Grammys would indicate — you want to be compensated for what you do. But it's really not about money. It's really about the future of the music business, and not wasting anyone's time. I don't ever want to sit in a seat just to sit in a seat. I could be off doing something else that's beneficial to the future of the music business as well as myself. So it's not about money! I mean, you couldn't pay me enough. And I don't mean that in a cocky way."

-> 12/07 - Sam Scarfo dropping Scarlito's Way mixtape and DVD project December 18
After gaining critical acclaim for his record wins in New York's notorious Fight Klub battles, New Jersey MC Sam Scarfo garnered a deal with Def Jam records under the new regime of Jay-Z and L.A. Reid. While putting the finishing touches on his major label debut album, Sam is setting up to release his DVD/Mixtape combo Scarlito's Way on December 18. He also has a new official single "Money in the Bag" with producer Indiana Jones.
In keeping with his own independent imprint Gorilla Pimp records, Sam Scarfo has been assertively defining his movement. He recently released his new mixtape album entitled Free Lunch, which offers fans some insight into the direction of his music. "I just want to give the people something, because people haven't heard me in a while," Sam says of the Free Lunch project. "I feel I owed it to my fans who have been riding with me from day one."
The upcoming Scarlito's Way DVD/Mixtape is a testament to Sam's dedication to his craft, featuring videos for his street anthems like "Mobster," "I Don't Care (Run New Jers)" and "Hammers" featuring 40 Glocc. Sam identifies with the project as part of his commitment to represent New Jersey to the fullest. "With the 'Mobster' video I wanted it to be real street, but at the same time hip-hop. It's very performance heavy. With 'Run New Jers', I wanted to show how strong and unified my movement is. The song speaks for itself. The bonus video 'Hammers' is just showing how connected I am nationwide. The West Coast is like my second home and 40 Glocc is my brother, so it's all love."
Hosted by DJ Kurupt, the 24-track Scarlito's Way mixtape includes several original songs with production from Havoc, Midi Mafia, Alchemist, Emile, Boola, Muscle Men and Formatt. Guest spots include Ne-Yo, Prodigy, 40 Glocc, Straps of Con-Air, Killa Black and Black Myth. Additionally, the DVD portion features the infamous Fight Klub battle between Sam Scarfo and Dipset's 40 Cal and some personal time with Sam, taking his recent video journals from YouTube a step further.
"I want people to take hip-hop artists more seriously, and not just into the jingle," Sam says. "I'm going to give you the jingle, but I want the people to know me as a person as well. If you're from the streets or had some type of family or connection to street, then you're gonna feel Sam Scarfo."

-> 12/06 - Jay-Z and Universal Contract-Renewal Negociations Rumors
According to the rumors department at the NYDaily News, contract-renewal negotiations between Universal Music and Jay-Z have broken down.
"He wanted big, big money that was way out of sync with the realities of today's record business," a source says.
Island/Def Jam CEO L.A. Reid and his boss, Doug Morris, are said to have found Jay's demands "excessive" in light of the time he's been spending on tour.
"People have lost count of how many times he's come out of retirement," the source says. "Everybody knows he's not around the office much. Everybody at Universal loves him, but they can't justify paying him the money he wants when so many people have been laid off."
His contract is said to expire at the end of this month. Friends of the rapper, who last night was celebrating his 38th birthday in Paris, scoffed at claims that Reid and Morris had thrown in the towel.
"They are still actively negotiating," one friend insisted.
According to another: "The talks will continue when he returns to New York. They still have a ways to go before a decision."

-> 12/04 - Pimp C's manager releases statement
Pimp C's manager Rick Martin, who was on hand this morning to identify the body of client and dear friend Chad Butler aka Pimp C, offers this statement regarding today's tragic loss:
This morning saw the loss of a man that was not only a client, but a very dear friend at a time when he had the most to live for. He was my best friend and I will always love him.
Chad's tragic passing leaves behind mourners the world over, including his mother, wife and children whom Chad loved more than anything. An official cause of death has yet to be determined.
I was so very proud of Chad and the growth he has shown since his release from prison; as an artist and business man and as a person. As one half of the legendary Texas group UGK, Chad was finally seeing the results of the years of love and labor that he and Bun B have put in over the years, culminating in the tremendous success of their album, Underground Kingz. Chad was set to soar with not only a new solo deal on Jive Records, but a lucrative publishing deal, a new satellite radio show, several group projects and a national cologne endorsement. Chad had everything to live for, making his unexpected passing a travesty.
Right now, my number one concern is the well being and livelihood of his family who are the ones most deeply affected by this loss. All efforts will be made to ensure that they are properly cared for in this tragic time and beyond.
As Chad's friend and manager, and on behalf of his family and those closest to him, we ask that you, the press keep reports of his passing to tributes to his amazing contributions as an artist and wait for the facts surrounding his death to come to light. Please let us all remember Pimp C as the kind and warmhearted man and rap music pioneer that he was.
Thank you,
Rick Martin / FM2 Inc.

"Basically we never stopped working on the project," Tru Life told HipHopGame. "We got about 6 songs in and we're definitely going to finish it up. Me and Saigon spoke about it. We had fun doing that. It's not no label shit so there's no pressure and no stress about this industry shit. We're just recording and having fun. We're not really caring about politics or nothing else. We're not worrying about release dates or marketing. It's just us not giving a fuck, making music and shooting it out to the world."
More on this as it develops.
