Bay Area legend B-Legit is dropping his new album Throwblock Muzic on November 20 on SMC Recordings.

"Hands On Them Knees" is the first single off Throwblock Muzic. "My last album hit before the Hyphy Movement broke. I'm known for that classic mob music, so I fell back and went to work. I gave the kids a chance, but now I have to step in and do what I do best. It looks like Puffy was watching the 50/Kanye Soundscan battle. The Bad Boy chief recently issued a challenge to J. Lo, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker.

"My fragrance is better than yours," Diddy said in a recent webisode. "I invite them to come out and meet me on 5th Avenue. We will do a blind smell test and find out which smells better. The winner pays for the shopping spree. I am a man and I know how a woman should smell."

All right, so it's not as exciting as Kanye taking on 50 Cent…

-> 09/26 - Midi Mafia update

Midi Mafia is gearing up their own Family Ties Entertainment label for some impressive releases. They recently teamed with Philadelphia's Hot City Music Group and SRC/Universal to introduce R&B songstress Shirι to the world. Her current mixtape, Baltimore's Daughter, presents her hard-hitting vocals and intimate lyrics to the hip-hop Generation. Much like Mary J. Blige and other hip-hop/R&B royalty have done before her, Shirι shares the often-harsh reality of her life with a relatable magnetism. Her full-length debut will drop early in 2008, with Midi Mafia as the driving force behind her sound.

"Shirι is taking R&B music back to real singing, substance and excitement that's been missing for a long time. This is going to be a landmark album," says Swift.

"Shirι will be the blueprint for all female solo artists after her album drops," Bruce Waynne said.

In coming months, Family Ties Entertainment will be releasing a prelude to their full-length album. The pre-album, titled Get Connected, will familiarize fans with the work of Midi Mafia, while the album Family First will introduce Family Ties' roster of stellar new talent. Following their own projects, the team will launch a flurry of albums for their own artists, along with a solo album for Bruce Waynne entitled Waynne Manor.

Despite personal setbacks in the past year - a tragic accident for Dirty Swift and a major lawsuit and divorce for Bruce Waynne - the two men have persevered to stay at the top of their game. As their label grows, Midi Mafia will continue to work with artists who best mesh with their amazing production. Bruce Waynne is excelling in his songwriting while Dirty Swift continues to utilize the hottest new technologies in engineering the Midi Mafia sound.

The duo is already working steadily overseas and on taking their own brand to the next level by partnering in endorsement deals with respected corporations. They are currently working with SSL and Spectrasonics, and will continue to build on new relationships. "Midi Mafia and Family Ties are the realization of our vision, our passion for music," explains Dirty Swift. "We align ourselves with other brands that have shown that same passion for success which we represent."

A slightly intoxicated-looking Havoc recently filmed a video in which he tells Kanye West to eat a dick before giving praise to the rapper for being a good producer and artist.

After showing off his new Dolce Gobana shirt, Havoc said, "I get fly. Fuck Kanye West. Kanye West can eat a dick. Word up. Watch this. It's going to on, like, YouTube and all this crazy shit and all this, that and the third. But I'm going to say one thing – I love Kanye as a producer and as an artist. Don't get it twisted. If you hear this and you see this, you're going to be like, 'Yo, Hav was saying some shit.' I love Kanye West. That nigga's ill. But he can eat a dick because I'm coming at you, baby. -> 09/20 - Jay-Z To Release New Album, 'American Gangster' in November

Jay-Z is currently in the studio working on his next album, the NY Times reports.
The album, 'American Gangster' which is inspired by the upcoming flick of the same name will be his first concept album and should drop in September.
Hov' got the idea after he was shown the film in which Denzel Washington plays the role of Frank Lucas, an early 1970s Harlem heroin kingpin.
"It immediately clicked with me. Like 'Scarface,' or any one of those films, you take the good out of it, and you can see it as an inspiring film," Jay-Z said.

The movie drops November 2 which means that the album could drop the next Tuesday, November 5.
The first single should be 'Blue Magic' produced by Pharrell Williams and should drop in the coming weeks.
Jay-Z spit a few bars from a song titled 'No Hook':
" 'Poor me, Dad was gone, finally got my Dad back, liver bad, he wouldn't live long, it snatched my Dad back.' "
Please don't compare me to other rappers. Compare me to trappers.

I'm more Frank Lucas than Ludacris. And Lude is my dude, I ain't trying to dis.

Just like Frank Lucas is cool, but I ain't tryin' to snitch.

I'm-a follow the rules, no matter how much time I'm-a get.

I'm-a live and die with the decisions that I'm-a pick.

-> 09/20 - Papoose released from Jive

DJ Kay Slay says that Papoose has received his release papers from Jive Records, almost a year after signing a deal with a $1.5 million advance.

"It was like a fucking year of hell," DJ Kay Slay said. "They meant well, they believed in the project. Unfortunately we almost became victims of A&R hell. You can not put a 60-something year-old white man on a 20-something year-old black kid's project from Brooklyn and think it's going to pop. We wound up with records that we didn't want to come out."

"We're popping champagne," Kay Slay contined. "We got our release from Jive Records and we're just moving on." Kay Slay also did not say what the next move for him and Papoose was.

Kay Slay also likened being signed to Jive to being in prison before thanking Jive for trying.

"We have our wings," Kay Slay continued "We have our shackles off."

"It makes me proud as someone who's watched his growth from the beginning, when he came in as a hungry producer, to now he's a rock star. I'm happy for him on that level," Jay-Z said. "And I'm excited for creativity as well, because I think that's a win for that as well. You know, people mimic success. And in order to mimic that success, you have to put in a lot of work. You have to really care about the music. I was just listening to the first song [on Graduation], called 'Good Morning' [West sampled] an a capella of my song in the end, ''The Ruler's Back'' off of The Blueprint album. And I was with him last night, he was bragging about having the a capella. He's like, 'Yo, that's how I spun it, 'cause I had the a capella.' I'm like, wow. The things he cares about! That's not a big thing, but in his mind, 'I had the a capella, so I was able to put that sample in there without any drums.'"

When asked about "Big Brother" being an accurate portrayal of himself, Jay-Z responded with, "I think it's a fair portrayal from a little brother's perspective. You know, you've got your big brother and you want to go out with him, he's like, ''Nah, get back in the house!'' Things like that, until you come of age. At Roc-A-Fella, we've always lived by tough love. Everyone knows that. It's nothing given. Everyone has to work for theirs, and that's how you make strong individuals, by not carrying them. That's how you make a Kanye West. You make him fight for his position."

Hov also mentioned that Kanye exceeded his expectations for the sales of Graduation, that 75 different mixes of "Stronger" exist and that he was supposed to be featured on "Barry Bonds" but that it was "late in the day, so I didn't get to do it." Jay also mentioned that he did the remix for "I Get Money" to show that he wasn't enemies with 50 Cent but noted that the remix came out on September 17 so as not to affect first-week sales.

Entertainment Weekly also asked Jay about being on top of New York, to which Jay responded, "When I'm in artist mode, why wouldn't New York be mine, right? It certainly is."

Kanye West's new album ranks 15th among all sales weeks since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking in 1991.
Kanye's 'Graduation' also broke records as it was (legally) downloaded 133,000 times, Curtis was downloaded 58,000 times.

"Working with Imperial is one of the greatest moves I ever made in my life!" Fat Joe said. "I never made as much money in my career as I have since I went independent. The Elephant in the Room is guaranteed to be a classic."

"Fat Joe is in a zone on this album, which is now his eighth solo work and I think it's his strongest to date," Neil Levine, Senior VP/GM of Imperial said. "It's truly amazing to be working with an artist that's getting better and better over time. He's never sounded more confident. I'm extremely pleased to be working with Joe once again and we're getting ready to do big things!"

-> 09/18 - Nas to Bill O'Reilly: 'Come to QB!'

Nas recently spoke to MTV about a variety of topics, from the 50 and Kanye hoopla to the n-word controversy to Bill O'Reilly. Check out what Nasty Nas had to say about Ol' Bill:

"Whenever he wants a debate, I'll go through it. I know Bill O'Reilly's test scores. I know what he did, what he's trying to be ... I'm a psycho. I'm an American psycho. [Addressing O'Reilly:] "Come to Queensbridge, [record your show] out there. Come to Jamaica, Queens [New York]. Do a show in Red Hook [Brooklyn, New York]." ... I ain't got no time to talk to a uncivilized savage. This man will go through all kinds of extremes for publicity. I will tell him I'm an American psycho, I'm his worst nightmare. "They Shootin' " is just the beginning.

I don't downplay nothing, that's who I am. When he wants to come holla at me, be ready for Hannibal Lecter. He don't deserve an intelligent explanation. I'll bite his nose off! He wants to talk to me like a animal? I will be — but only to him. With everybody else I'll be a gentleman, including his wife. That's right — I'm crazy. That's how we should be to him. He isn't here to help us, and we don't need his help.

If Arnold Schwarzenegger comes to VA Tech, he's gonna come dressed like the Terminator? [O'Reilly] would never say that about Arnold Schwarzenegger. But he'll say that to me because he's ignorant."

Does Nas have another "Ether" in him? We'll have to wait and see.

-> 09/18 - Jay-Z Talks Kanye Sales, Billion Dollar Remix

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jay-Z talked about the battle of the sales between Kanye West and 50 Cent as well as the remix to 50 Cent's 'I Get Money.'

On why he thinks Kanye sold more copies on his first week:
'It's pretty much how much he cares about it. It's not done for any other reason but to be the best music out at that specific time. You know, at times you could hear [other] people's music, and you hear, ''Okay, that's your girl single, that's the thug single, that's the...'' No, it's none of that. Every single song he makes, he makes because he thinks it's the best record at that specific time.'

On how the 'Billion Dollar Remix' to 'I Get Money' came about:
'I just wanted to show that we're not enemies. It's a great story for this, you're the first person to ask, so you got great timing! [50 Cent] called me to ask for the remix, and I told him he couldn't put the remix out until the first week came. I didn't want it to affect any type of numbers. [Laughs] So as you see, it came out the 17th, when the SoundScan cycle is finished. So just to show, I'm still competing! We're not enemies, we're just competing.'

On why he didn't do a feature on Kanye's album:
'Well, I was going to do ''Barry Bonds,'' but it was late in the day, so I didn't get to do it.'

-> 09/18 - J-Hood Shows No Respect for D-Block, Appears on Stage with G-Unit

Former D-Block affiliate J-Hood just posted the following video on Youtube, taking shots at the Lox and showing his appearance on stage with the whole G-Unit.
J-Hood shows he still has his D-Block chain but in the video he walks it like a dog.
Is 50 Cent trying to recruit all the defected members of the crews he has beef with?
A few days ago J-Hood released a song called 'Who I'ma Sign To?,' you can listen to it in audio section of HipHopGame.com.

-> 09/18 - 50 Cent: 'Def Jam's rigging the sales!'

On the same day that 50 Cent released his "I Get Money (Remix)" featuring the president of Def Jam, the G-Unit boss reportedly called out Def Jam as he accused them of fixing the sales on Kanye West's Graduation.

According to Uncut magazine, 50 Cent said, "He's never had a fraction of the sales 50 Cent has. They could have one scan and have it count four times. West's entire career hasn't sold half what I sold on my first album."

-> 09/18 - Ill Bill's new album The Hour Of Reprisal pushed back

Ill Bill regretfully announces that his forthcoming sophomore effort, The Hour of Reprisal, has been pushed back until early 2008. "I am extremely proud of this album," Ill Bill said. "It is the most personal music I've ever made. This record is an uncompromising snapshot of my entire life and the world around me at this very moment."

Originally scheduled for release on September 11 via Ill Bill's own Uncle Howie Records in cooperation with Perfect Game Recording Co./Warner Music Group, The Hour of Reprisal did not hit the stores as scheduled due to WMG's decision to discontinue the Perfect Game label. They are currently in discussions with a number of interested parties and plan to announce a new release date within the next few weeks.

-> 09/17 - Marc Ecko buys Barry Bonds' record-setting 756th homerun ball

Ecko is going to give fans the chance to decide the ball's fate by establishing a website, http://vote756.com, where fans can vote to have the ball placed in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, permanently brand the ball with an asterisk before placing the ball in the Baseball Hall of Fame or put the ball on a rocket ship and launch it into space.

-> 09/17 - Dwight Schrute outraps Kanye West at the Emmys

Dwight Schrute, assistant to the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin, a small paper company located in Scranton, PA outperformed platinum MC Kanye West at last night's Emmy Awards.

Schrute (real name Rainn Wilson) and Kanye West were presenting an award together, but before they could name the honorees, Wayne Brady forced them into a rap battle. Schrute prevailed over Kanye when Kanye mispronounced his own lyrics to "Stronger," as he said, "That's how long I've been on you" when he really should have said, "That's how long I've been on ya." Schrute knew the difference, hence he emerged as the victor.

After he was proclaimed the winner, he then asked, to no one in particular, to be his black Kate Moss for the night. Unfortunately, there were no takers for the hard-working assistant to the regional manager.

In related news, the season premiere to The Office is a one-hour episode airing on September 27 on NBC.

-> 09/17 - 50 Cent: 'I'm not retiring if Kanye outsells me'

50 Cent appeared on The Jim Rome Show on Friday to discuss Curtis and his future in the hip-hop game.

When asked if he would retire, 50 Cent answered, "I know what to say when I get into a situation to generate interest in the public. Kanye West has never said anything disrespectful to me and he's never expressed any discomfort to the success that I've had. Kanye West's project has generated more interest than anything that he's done in the past and that's cool. That means he moves up. That doesn't mean that 50 Cent is done. I said that to create the actual event because he wasn't going to say anything to make it '50 Cent versus Kanye West.' This is the one quote that I've been asked by anyone that I've had a conversation with because that made the situation interesting."

50 Cent also said that Kanye West wouldn't outsell him internationally because he has done more groundwork in other countries. "There are countries that ain't even acknowledging Kanye West's release right now that I've been in and selling way more records than him," he said. "So right now in the U.S., if the United States decides that they want to vote for who feels like an underdog in this space, then that's Kanye West, considering the success I've had in my last projects. I've sold over 21 million records and this is just my third album."

When 50 was asked about Kanye's tantrum at MTV's Video Music Awards, he said, "He felt like that was a deal in exchange for his performance and for loaning himself for the show that he would receive that but that's not how it works. Look, my last album, [I was] ASCAP Writer of the Year. 2003, ACAP Writer of the Year [and in] 2005. In 2007, I predict that I will be ASCAP Writer of the Year again. Those awards mean something to me because it's based on the actual performance of the music. The trophies that people receive based on their peers acknowledging them or the actual Grammy committee voting, I don't receive those things because I write about the harsh realities. And because I've been able to be successful without compromising myself, I'm not willing to do that at this point."

50 Cent added that he had nothing personal against Kanye West and talked about his next album, Before I Self Destruct. 50 told Van Smack the album is 80% done. Before I Self Destruct is 50's last obligation to Aftermath/Shady and after that, 50 said if he was going to make music, it was going to happen "organically."
